I forget that school is quite tiring, especially at the moment when there are a lot of extra rules and added stress. It's impressive that they're learning at all under the circumstances, but they are. Matthew's mostly too tired in the evenings to want to come for a walk, but he really wanted to the other night, so yay! He didn't have a lot of energy, but he fancied a little breath of fresh air. We debated getting in the car to find somewhere interesting to walk, but then we couldn't be bothered and decided to stick to our neighbourhood.
I immediately regretted going out in my pyjama bottoms instead of my jeans because it was cold! There was one of those Siberian winds that get through your coat zips and in the gaps around your neck if you didn't think to wear a scarf. So this was going to be a quick walk.
Good Christmas tree game from someone on the next street over:
We took Freya up to the hill for a look over the river and Lancaster. She didn't see anything because there's a hedge in the way and she's very small. And also, I don't think dogs have particularly good distance vision. And also, she doesn't know what a river is. Or a Lancaster. Also, it's quite difficult to take photos with a slippy phone and a dog that's pulling on its lead. So they were blurry this evening. We showed her the Scandinavian houses, but she wasn't much interested.
We showed her town, the castle and the Ashton Memorial, but she wasn't interested in those either.
It was at this point that she'd decided she'd had enough already and wanted to go home, so I couldn't take any more photos. This was the last one:
I couldn't say that I was particularly sad that we didn't stay out longer because it really isn't the weather for pyjamas outside now. I will make sure I'm properly attired from now on.
Until tomorrow, winter warmers.
