It was a very quick walk on Monday evening because, although I was enjoying the refreshingly cold drizzle, Freya wasn't all that keen. It's possible she didn't understand what it was for. I get that. But I liked it – I had my bobble hat on, my warm coat and my gloves, and I was toasty. I wonder if I need to get Freya a coat – but she's an Alsatian, for goodness' sake, and they have a double layer of fur. I'm sure they didn't have manmade coats when they were bred in Germany and were up in the mountains herding sheep. But she is quite small, and it was a biting wind, so I'll let her off. But we're not missing walks just for a bit of rain, young miss.
This is how drizzly it was – I couldn't see where I was going through my glasses, but I can't take them off when I walk because my eyesight is very bad. What I need is an impervious charm, like what Harry Potter uses when he's playing quidditch in the rain, but that's not a thing that exists in the muggle world, so I'll have to think of something else. I can't carry an umbrella and walk my dog, so I might just have to walk blind.
She didn't even deviate from her course when she saw this amazing leaf. I thought that would've brought her out from behind my legs, seeing as how she has such a deep affection for leaves, but no, this one wasn't good enough, apparently.
She stuck with her plan until she smelled our street, and then it was ears down again, off like a shot, desperate to get home to her toys and water bowl and brothers. Dogs are funny.
Until tomorrow, soggy bottoms.
