Underpants

It doesn’t really feel as though we’ve had a walk today, but we have, albeit a very short one compared to the miles we’re getting used to. We incorporated a quick trip to Asda when someone informed me this morning that his undies are all too tight and have been for some time — I won’t say which son this was, to save blushes. And just because Matthew was with me, doesn’t mean it was him. I mean, it might have been, but I’ll never tell either way. Nevertheless, underpants needed to be bought, so we bought them. And some treats as well, since we haven’t had any for a while.

On the way, we saw this:

Free books. Hands sanitised, I did take one. Dawn French’s A Tiny Bit Marvellous. No idea if it’s any good. I just wanted to participate in this lovely thing that was going on here.

Trolleys. We spent some time by the trolleys trying to work out when hand sanitiser was needed, whether gloves also needed to be sanitised, and whether these things needed to be done before touching to the trolley and then again after cleaning the trolley handle. We just completely overdid it — seemed the safest bet.

I have to say, even though this blog has not really included my opinions on any of the measures so far, that people seem to be taking a bit less care around here this week. There were the busy roads yesterday — there could have been good reasons for people being out, of course — and today, no one seemed to be practising social distancing at all. Several people brushed past me in Asda. Back on the cycle track, we moved right over to one side when a bloke and his dog came towards us, and he was annoyed with us and said that his dog wasn’t dangerous. No, dude, we’re just ... ugh, forget it!

Anywaaaaaaay. We had an otherwise uneventful toddle along the cycle track. There’s not much to see from our cycle track, being flanked on both sides by tall trees and shrubbery. So I just took a bunch of photos of the trees above our heads.

It would probably be really cool if I knew things like tree names and could tell you a bunch of interesting facts about them. But I don’t and I can’t. So some wispy trees:

Some trees that look like they have a lot of nests in them but haven’t:

Some trees with climber-wrapped trunks:

Some trees with denser branches:

And a tree that likes its own space so that it can have a good stretch:

Lots of places still to explore where we won’t encounter many/any other people.

Until tomorrow, patient readers.
