Quick One

A walk around the block was all I had the legs for today. Don’t know why I was so tired — could have had something to do with me staying up until 4am to finish my book. Idiot.

So, there was very little to photograph this evening, late and dark and blustery as it was, and I practically ran (or maybe speed walked) the whole way because I wanted to get back to my new book. I didn’t even bother to get dressed — went out in my pyjamas and Ugg boots. I’m not even ashamed. Matthew was pooped from yesterday, so this was very much a let’s-just-get-this-over-with walk.

Mostly I noticed walls this evening, and blossom drifts starting to collect by them.

There was one wall that has been half knocked down. I wonder if that will be someone’s project over the next few weeks or if it will have to wait until builders can come out again.

The roads were even more empty than usual this evening. It all felt a bit bleak and sad, and I couldn’t find anything to smile about. Not like me, eh?! I think the real reason is that I’m working again tomorrow after a week off. I shouldn’t be glum about this at all because I know fine well that I’m very lucky to have a job right now. But that Sunday evening feeling can be tricky to shake off at the best of times.

I passed by my dad’s house. We often do pass by my dad’s house when we’re on our way out or back from a walk — I just haven’t mentioned it before. He lives on the same street as us, and it’s been dead weird not to see him because he pops in very often for a brew. I think he’s doing alright though — loves a bit of isolation does Pete.

And that really was it. Compared to yesterday’s epic adventure, this was barely a walk at all. But I did go outside for 20 minutes of brisk exercise, so it counts.

Until tomorrow, dear hearts.
